PWN’s spring team meetup in Prague

Since the PWN team has now grown to nearly 20 members, we recently made the decision to get together and meet each other in person! Many of us had already met before, but for some of us, this was the first time that we were able to see each other off-screen!

This was also the case with me, as prior to our meetup, I had only met a few folks face to face. I, like each of the team members who came to Prague, were definitely looking forward to seeing and spending time with everyone else on the team.

As PWN’s PsyOps Ninja, an important part of my role is to organise our various team activities and event – this meetup in Prague was no exception! Working together with our team’s HR and operations lead, Marina, we coordinated the dates and began to arrange all the necessary odds and ends.

Getting settled into our Bitcoin-only hub

The first “new” person from the PWN team that I've met in person was our product manager, Mike. I gave him and his girlfriend a brief tour of Parallel Polis, Prague’s cryptocurrency enthusiast hub.

Parallel Polis is a nonprofit organisation housed in a multipurpose space in Prague’s Holešovice district. Within its walls, you’ll find a hacker space, the Institute of Cryptoanarchy, a coworking Paper Hub, and even the world’s first Bitcoin-only coffee shop! It was here that we chose to dig into each of our team’s plans over the next couple of days.

Day 1: Roadmap, our DAO, and breakdancing

Our first official day of the meetup started out with a warm welcome from Josef that took place in the Institute of Cryptoanarchy. We opened things up with a discussion of our team’s high-level roadmap, after which Mike gave us a brief overview of a secret project that we have up our sleeves (unfortunately, there’s not a lot more that I can say for now – but stay tuned for more announcements!).

After lunch, we dove into discussions about the much-anticipated PWN DAO (we’ll be publishing separate blog post about that) and our team’s long-term business development plans. Some of us had a nice chat with Sara Polak, an archeologist in AI and an excellent moderator. Expect video interviews hosted by Sara on our blog and social media soon!

By the time that we wrapped up our first day’s agenda, our brains were full and we felt a bit exhausted. However, we finished out the night in Prague’s Cross Club, where Mike unveiled his skill of breakdancing! Yes, that’s right – BREAKDANCING at a drum and bass party! I didn't believe my eyes. Hats off, Mike…I need to see that again!

Day 2: NFTs, event planning, and GameFi

Our next day of the meetup started with the introduction of the NFT collection that a few of us have been working on. We'll be revealing details about this on Twitter, so stay tuned for more info.

We continued the day’s agenda by exploring ideas for our presence at two upcoming events, ETHPrague and EthCC. We’re really excited about what we have in store at both of these events, and if you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to check them out!

Rounding out the day was a deep dive into GameFi from Steve. He took our team members through an introduction of Ember Sword and walked through several trends and predictions that he has observed within the GameFi landscape.

Day 3: Exploring Prague!

After enjoying a delicious team dinner followed by a (late) night out on the town, the team met up on Saturday for some wholesome sightseeing around Prague. Highlights included:

  • Go-karting with a beautiful view over the city

  • Walking through Letná park and visiting the Prague Metronome

  • A tour of Prague’s first NFT gallery, Crypto Portal

As Saturday wrapped up, we said goodbye to each other, but we already know we'll be meeting again for ETHPrague next month. That's bound to be an even more intense time, and we hope to have even more people from the team present!

Will we see you there? Let us know on our Discord or Twitter.
